This month’s episode is with kevin gotkin (they/he) who has been dialed into various disability worlds since 2012 as an access ecologist, teacher, and scholar. They recently worked as Artist-Organizer with Creative Rebuild New York. kevin's university based work includes a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018 and a Visiting Assistant Professorship (2018-2021) at NYU. Their performance and curatorial work has been featured at Lincoln Center, in nightlife shenanigans, and through their weekly newsletter Crip News.
This conversation meant so much to me because kevin is such a light but also it offered me a reframe on how I approach I think about organizing gatherings and groups of people which admittedly I find is something I have to re-access. As someone who has dabbled as a practitioner of social practice, that feels hard to say but also why I am embarking on a path to study art therapy as a way to shape my direction in my practice going forward so it is more rewarding for all involved. kevin is a real authentic inspiration.
